Grant Scheme now up and running
Grant funding is available for external works to historic building in the Old Market Square, Lace Market or Sneinton Market Conservation Area. Please see the Grant Forms and Advice section to find out how to register your interest. The next deadline for registering your interest is Friday 28 December 2018.
If you are the owner, leaseholder or tenant of a historic building in the Old Market Square, Lace Market or Sneinton Market Conservation Area you could be eligible for a grant. We particularly invite applications for works to buildings in the current priority areas of Market Street, Angel Row, Wheeler Gate and around the Old Market Square. Grants are only available for commercial properties.
Works Eligible for Funding
Funding is available for conservation-led repairs and improvements to commercial properties, including:
- Reinstating original historic features that have been lost such as sliding sash windows and traditional shopfronts where clear evidence exists to inform the appearance and details
- Joinery repairs to original doors and windows
- Masonry repairs, indenting with new bricks, repointing in lime mortar
- Re-introducing cast iron rainwater goods, iron railings and/or chimney stacks
- Roof repairs including re-slating/tiling, lead work, timber dormers and fascias
- Traditional signwriting
Please note: Grants will not be offered for routine maintenance, redecoration, internal repairs or works that involve the reversal of alterations that are themselves of quality and interest.
Who is Eligible
If you are the owner, leaseholder or tenant of a historic building in the Old Market Square, Lace Market or Sneinton Market Conservation Area you could be eligible for a grant.
Grants are only available for commercial properties.
For reinstatement of lost architectural features (for example a shop front) the grant rate is 75% of the total cost of eligible works. For repairs the grant rate is 50% of the total cost of eligible works. There is a cap of £50,000 per property.
